selling or keeping lambs

i got 2 main points based on jeremy hunt's journal. they are selling lambs or keeping lambs. this is all about investment. so lets check it out.
when we invest on something, we have to make sure whether the "something" is profitable or not. so how do we know whether the "something" is profitable or not? the answer is we have to find the net present value of this "something".
in this case, findlay (farm's owner) has chosen lamb as their main investment. findlay chose to keep the lamb first and then sell it at the right price because keeping lamb gave bigger margin than selling lamb. he could only get 10 pounds a head if he sold a lamb directly. the story would be different if he kept the lambs first, he could get until 30 pounds a head but the cost for keeping lambs is higher too.
keeping lamb is all about the cost. the farmer have to know how to care the lambs well so the cost will greatly decrease. the lower the cost, the bigger the margin they will get.

One Day Workshop at OCBC NISP

do you know what OCBC NISP is? OCBC NISP is a bank from Indonesia. They are 70 years old now. Every year they do CSR such as workshop, so that was why they invited 4 universities like Widyatama, ITB, UNPAR, and Maranatha to attend the workshop.

There were 2 sessions in the event. the first session was about something about banking and credit and the second session was about game and talkshow. The workshop was very good because we had given information about banking. it has made our knowledge about banking becomes richer.

The most interesting program in the workshop was the game. the game really made our eyes open widely because we had to be a creative person and worked under pressure. The game was about how to make an egg didn't get even a single scratch after the officer threw the egg from 1,5 meters high.

it was so hard, because in a group we came from different university. we have to be united, we have to trust each other, and the most important thing was we have to be solid as a team. My group did not give our best shot, our tool could not make the egg safe until it has reached the floor. We got something positive despit the loss in this game.

In the workshop i have found a lot of old friends and I have found some interesting person. We shared each other about things and I got a lot of new information from them.

At least I hope OCBC NISP could retain the performances. They were good in there. I think this way of CSR is the best way to communicate their products.

Astra's Highways

On Tuesday 6-9-2011, President Director of ASII, Prijono Sugiarto said that Astra finally took over almost 95% shares of PT Marga Hanurata Intristic (MHI) through their branch company PT Astratel Nusantara (Astratel). Astratel paid 750 millions Rupiah to Natpac Graha Arthamas (Natpac). 5% of shares is still owned by Natpac. Astra used the money from internal funding to buy the shares of MHI

We can see from this accuisition that Astra is really trying to expand their business into infrastructure sector especially highways because as we know MHI is a firm who own the concession of highways Kertosono-Mojokerto for 40,5 kilometers. As the result, Now Astra have 3 parts of highways including PT Marga Mandala Sakti (MMS) who operate the highways from Tangerang-Merak for 72,4 kilometers, PT marga Trans Nusantara (MTN) who will build and operate highways from Kunciran-Serpong for 11,2 kilometers.

Jakarta - PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) melalui anak usahanya, PT Astratel Nusantara (Astratel) telah mengakuisisi 95% saham PT Marga Hanurata Intrinstic (MHI) senilai Rp 750 miliar.

Astra's Strong Cashflow

Do you know that Astra have had standby loan as much as $525 millions Dollar from some International Banks but in fact they have not used them until now. Not a long time ago they loaned as much as $380 millions Dollar but they had paid them because their cashflow was so strong.

Why do they still exist without using the loan they have? The only reason why they do still exist is because their cashflow is so strong. Prime director of Astra, Prijono Sugiarto said that They will not ever use the loan if there is no urgent interest. Good management and control make Astra receive high net profit last year as much as 14.366 billions Rupiah. With such income, they won’t even need to use the loan thay have.

I just wonder how they great they are
